Celebrating Magic & Lore of Peridot
Peridot has always been associated with light. In fact, the Egyptians called it the “gem of the sun.” As the stone of August, peridot emulates the power of the height of summer and the magic of abundance and light this month brings.
Peridot is connected with the heart chakra, with its soothing and unique green hue, it attracts love as well as spiritual and financial abundance.
The word peridot comes from the Arabic “faridat,” which means “gem”, and is one of the oldest known precious stones.
Stone of luck, health and happiness. It is the stone of the royal family of Egypt. Known to heal and protect the kidneys, it is a wonderful stone for restoring youth and vitality to the body and spirit. It was known to attract the attention of others and give off a regal energy, hence why it was worn by ancient kings and queens.
Connected with the Hawaiian goddess Pele, for she is life giving and magnanimous. Most peridot formed deep inside the earth and was delivered to the surface by volcanoes, and Pele is known to burst forth with her power through the energy of volcanos.
