She is wild and free. She plays among the wild mustangs of the desert, dancing under the star light, lit up by lightning and painted with the softest pink sunrises. What is the story behind your instagram name "Cloudbones"? Years ago I started making jewelry out of feathers and it came from the idea that the quill of the feather is hollow and light (cloud) but it’s also a bone.. therefore cloudbones.
What is your favorite part about living in the desert? There’s too many to even name . . Waking up before sunrise and looking outside to see the entire world glowing pink in all directions. The way that lightning in a passing monsoon storm at night illuminates the mountains but you can still see the stars right above you. When you look up and a giant double rainbow stretches across above you, encompassing the entire neighborhood. And of course when it’s 80 degrees in the middle of winter.
How would you describe your style as an artist and creator? My photography emphasizes the beauty of nature, and my place and perspective in it.
What chakra are you working on opening/healing right now? My root and throat chakras. Trying to balance the desire to take control of my life with the natural flow of things. Being able to talk and walk my truth and stepping into my creative side more often and without thinking — to just freely create without care of the result.
What is the rarest stone/mineral you have in your crystal collection? I actually have a tiny emerald from India.
Sunrise or Sunset? Sunrise — the sky can be a million shades of pink, orange, and yellow, the clouds are strangest, not to mention mornings are chillingly silent and hold so much beauty and potential.
Share with us your favorite quote/mantra: “Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of earth are never alone or weary of life.” — Rachel Carson
What are three things you want to give the world in your lifetime? I want to open a wild horse sanctuary . . . there’s about 30,000 mustangs in government holding pens right now. Most of them are over the age of 3 and untrainable . . . and they deserve to be free forever. I want to start a sunrise music festival that would flow with tea, good vibes, and dance music. I want to prove that making the transition to an off-grid, self-sustaining lifestyle is not as difficult as it seems and the best thing to do for the earth + humanity.
Do you have any resolutions for this new year? Buy a horse, a motorcycle, start going to yoga classes regularly. Encorporate running and meditation, and creating a daily habit.
